How Does Copilot Work?

Microsoft 365 Copilot is designed to unlock your employee’s productivity and unleash their creativity with a these core four elements:

• Large Language Models: Copilot leverages Open AI in Azure to build a LLM specific to your organization.

• Microsoft Graph, using your organization’s data and security already in place: The Microsoft Graph is the “glue” behind your Microsoft tenant, including data from your Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive and nearly all other M365 connected services. Copilot uses your organization’s Graph data, plus security configuration to ensure that Copilot’s answers are specific to the user working with it.

• Microsoft 365 Apps: Microsoft 365 Copilot is designed to be used directly inside your existing Microsoft 365 Apps, including Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams.

• The Internet: Copilot will pull information from the internet to supplement answers but will never utilize your organization’s data outside of your organization.

Copilot in Outlook
