Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 SP1 were released to manufacturing on the 9th,  they will be available for download on the 16th to MSDN and TechNet users, with general availability on the 22nd of February.   Let the downloading begin!

Here’s the announcement for SP1:

This brings two import features to Hyper-V, Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX.  Dynamic Memory brings the Hyper-V memory management to a near par level with VMware, but it works in a completely different manor.  We should be able to increase the VM Density at hosting by 25 – 40%.

RemoteFX brings accelerated video to the VDI world and I think it exceeds  VMware’s PCoIP and Citrix’s HDX from a speed perspective, however that does not come without cost in memory and network bandwidth.  I don’t think you see remotely connection sessions making use of RemoteFX and each 1024x768 would eat 75 MB of video memory.
